Haltiala is home to Helsinki's largest preserved fields and our city's largest forest. The scenically and culturally-historically valuable fields of Haltiala have been cultivated since the 15th century. The city has reserved the area for the recreational use of its residents. Networks of tracks cross the fields in winter.

The name Haltiala is a translation made in the 1940s of the area's medieval place name Tomtebacka. According to current knowledge, however, the old name meant only the place of human habitation or a plot (plot) instead of the world of elves.

There are three farm centers in the Haltiala area, Tuomarinkylä manor, Haltiala farm and Niskala. Until the beginning of the 20th century, these farms with fields and forests belonged to the Kavaleff family, who lived in the Tuomarinkylä manor. Jacob Kavaleff ran a nursery in Tuomarinkylä, and he planted special tree species in the area. The trees in the Niskala arboretum are also from his time.

There are written mentions of the estate of Haltiala as early as the 16th century. In the 19th century, Haltiala was a representative manor milieu. The maintenance of the garden stopped during the 20th century, the manor building was demolished after a fire in the 1950s, and the environment fell into disrepair. The surroundings of the farm and the old garden by the river were renovated in 2001-2002. Old roads border the banks of the Vantaanjoki

Today, Haltiala farm is a modern Finnish horse farm maintained by the city of Helsinki. There are cows, horses, sheep, goats and pigs, as well as a rooster with a flock of chickens. In the summer, the animals can be seen outdoors, and you can also see them indoors. There is a cafe...

This is a good entertainment place. I said entertainment place because every Wednesday it's a popular place for motorcyclists..on a sunny day sometimes theres more than 200 bikes of different brands are there...kids mostly visit with their parents on weekends... rest of the day of the week it's also open for all and its totally free. There's a restaurant there where you can get great burgers and drinks also ice cream. Farm animals are plus point in there. Gives a feeling of country site. Nearby fields have strawberries and peas which are also free to pick in summer. If you dont have own transportation than there are few buses which...

Relaxed farm environment with a cafe bar and a ice cream stand. Good amount of seating area and a free bathroom as well. There a few different places where you can also park, there's plenty and close by. On a good day you may get to experience horseback riding and see all kinds of farm animals. Little kids to adults are all welcome and I personally recommend this for dates. Hopefully I succeeded in my word count for Google Guides....

It's a nice small farm but nothing special. I would recommend the walk or ride there because the nature is really nice. Perhaps kids would appreciate the farm more than adults. There is a café and an ice cream trailer. The café is very expensive for example a small glass of wine is 9 euros. There are also pic nick tables next to the cafe where you can bring your own drinks and snacks.
