Beautiful church with wonderful staff. Note that I came here on a Sunday, and they have mass (in Finnish) at 11am. If you were like me and read that they have organ (instrument) demonstrations at noon, please note that they do not happen in the summer unfortunately. It still is beautiful to look at though. Also note that when you check the doors for entry, try the main entrance first (3 doors) and the middle (2nd) right door (pull) is your best bet. This Church is also a Pokémon Go Gym ;P

Very atmospheric, elegant, beautiful, intricately designed church with nice acoustic. Mishaels church is a distinguished example of the neolithic style in architecture. And is one of the most popular weddings churches in Turku, being able to seat 1800 people. Church was finished in 1905

Imposing, located North of the city, it seems to want to push its spires towards the sky, almost to balance its solid and massive structure, even more evident by observing the low aisles. The mosaics in the apse are beautiful and at sunset allow reflections of light to filter through.

Miałem niezwykłą okazję odwiedzić Kościół św. Michała (Mikaelinkirkko) w Turku, Finlandii. To miejsce zachwyca swoją architekturą i bogatą historią. Budowla w stylu neogotyckim, z charakterystycznymi czerwonymi cegłami i wysokimi wieżami, robi ogromne wrażenie już od pierwszego spojrzenia. Główna wieża ma aż 77 metrów wysokości, co czyni ją jedną z najwyższych w mieście. Wnętrze kościoła jest równie imponujące, z pięknymi witrażami i misternie zdobionymi sklepieniami. Spacerując po wnętrzu, można poczuć ducha przeszłości i niezwykłą atmosferę tego miejsca. Kościół św. Michała to nie tylko miejsce modlitwy, ale także centrum kulturalne, gdzie odbywają się koncerty i inne wydarzenia. Jeśli kiedykolwiek będziecie w Turku, koniecznie odwiedźcie ten zabytek – to prawdziwa perełka architektury i historii!

Mikaelinkirkko on rakennettu vuosina 1899–1905. Sen on suunnitellut Lars Sonck, joka oli 24-vuotias arkkitehtiopiskelija voittaessaan kirkon suunnittelukilpailun vuonna 1894. Kirkon arkkitehtuuri edustaa uusgotiikkaa ja jugendia. Vaikka Mikaelinkirkon todetaan saaneen valmistuttuaan osakseen pelkkää ihailua, arkkitehti Sonck ei myöhemmällä iällään ollut siihen itse tyytyväinen. Ennen kirkon rakennustöiden alkua Sonck kävi Keski-Euroopassa, jossa jugendtyyli oli saavuttanut suosiota ja kotiin palattuaan hän teki uuden kirkkosuunnitelman voittaneen ehdotuksen korvaajaksi, mutta suunnitelman vaihtoon ei suostuttu. Sonck vaati kirkon rakentamisaikana koko ajan kirkkoon suuria muutoksia, joista osaan pystyttiin myöntymään, osaan taas ei. Vaikuttavan kokoinen ja näköinen kirkko.

Very nice place! Silence, not much people... Read its history before visiting. Sometimes you may listen to organ music.
