The Château de Domfront is a fascinating site steeped in medieval history, perched high above the town with breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside. Although now in ruins, the remains of the castle walls, towers, and fortified structures offer a powerful sense of what once stood here.

Wandering through the site is both peaceful and inspiring. Information boards provide helpful historical context, and the elevated location makes it a perfect spot for photos and quiet reflection. The surrounding park and walking trails add to the experience, making it a great destination for history lovers, families, or anyone...

The fragmented remains of this once spectacular medieval chateau are well maintained and described in both French and English by a series of information boards. Visit on a clear day and you can see for miles around, looking out across the wooded valleys below. The ruins can be explored more or less in their entirety but care needs to be taken on steps which are steep and may be slippery. France does not always share The UK's obsession with health and safety so younger children will definitely need to be supervised as there are some unguarded ledges from where you could fall...

Really interesting Chateau ruins. The bridge over the road is now rebuilt and open (aug 22) and makes it really easy to visit the castle. Domfront is a fantastic place (see my other review) from the town you literally cross the new foot bridge across the road below and the ruins are there, great views as well from the grounds. There are information boards scattered around which when read make the history of the place really interesting, and as in France there is a public...

Domfront is such a beautiful medieval city, its quaint higgledy piggledy houses, streets and bars is charming. The castle is free to visit and is a really calm space to come and explore or to just sit. Watch the swifts flying about and learn how William the conquerer lived here. You can park nearby, something you don't find in the UK!
