Jacques Bavard Domaine des Closeaux — Attraction in Beaune

I stayed here for two nights while traveling through the area. Not only was the suite very comfortable, but Jacques and Christine were excellent hosts who went above and beyond to help make my stay even better.

The suite is located on the second floor of the barn, up a flight of stairs if that's an issue. The suite is very clean, bed very comfortable, and while there's no air conditioning, opening the windows allows a pleasant breeze through which makes sleeping easy. You also get a bit of a view of the surrounding village and vineyards, but the suite stays very quiet. There's public parking available a 30-second walk down the street, though you can park your vehicle within the gate if you'd prefer.

Breakfast was excellent and well worth it. I spent about two hours each morning just enjoying breakfast.

Jacques called ahead and set up two dinner reservations for me, both at excellent local restaurants that served classic and local cuisine. He also took me through some of the wines he makes, and gave me a new appreciation for Burgundy whites. Christine supplied me with maps of the local area and went over recommendations for things to do and places to see; had I known beforehand that there was so much to do, I would've booked a longer stay!

Hopefully I will return to the Côte de Beaune soon, and Domaine des Closeaux will be my first choice; if I come with friends they'll have to stay elsewhere. I have been left with a truly...

I visited with only the intention of drinking some wine and taking in scenic views, and ended up with a better visit than I could have imagined.||||When I arrived, I was impressed with the size of the suite and that the pictures online actually represented how pleasant the property was. Parking is convenient, and while not much is easily walkable in the surrounding area, it seems like everything is less than a 15 minutes drive.||||Jacques helped find me local restaurants that fit my tastes and called to make reservations for me, which I appreciated substantially as my French-speaking skills are mostly non-existent. Christine put together an excellent breakfast and helped give me ideas about where to go and what to see on my trip while I was staying with them.||||I definitely wouldn't hesitate to stay with them again, and at this point I will be actively trying to find an excuse to travel to the area again...
