Decent student housing considering its price (I paid €248/month).
The good: -The bed is very comfortable, I slept great every night. The area is also very quiet at night. -Bathroom, while small, is great. I never ran out of hot water and the water pressure is very good as well. Because it's quite small the mirror fogs up quickly but that's easily fixed with a squegee -Plenty of storage space on the shelves and in the closet. -Very close to tram and bus stops. The closest tram stop is Montaigne/Montesquieu on the ligne B, which gives you a direct route to the city center. If you're a fan of the Bordelais nightlife, the TBM Night line has a stop at the front door. -Plenty of routes to choose from if you like to run. -Great internet speed. -Nice view if you get lucky with your room. -Big parking space for cars and bike rack protected from rain for bikes
The mediocre: -No easy to reach supermarket on foot. Several to choose from if you have a car with you. -Depending on what building and on which side of the building your room is located, you either have a lot of privacy or almost none at all.
The bad: -Hot plates in the kitchen don't get very hot so I recommend getting an electrical plate at a store. -Heater doesn't heat up very much so get some warm socks. -Dryer at the laverie doesn't dry very well. I recommend 2 cycles on the highest temperature to get your clothes really dry. -The fridge tends to be a bit dirty because it's shared with 4 other young adults. I bought my own small fridge to use in my room. -No utensils, pillow, bedsheets... whatsoever. The furniture in my photos is all you get, expect to bring/buy everything...
Read moreSub-par housing for students that does not take into consideration students preferences, security and basic comfort. My daughter was placed in the dilaptated and unsanitary villa where she was not comfortable using the shared kitchen due to the soiled refrigerator and lack of respect for basic cleaning and hygine from her 'roomates'... Bugs were common, the mattress was dirty and stained and the people around were noisy and disrespectful with resting hours. We requested a change of dorms where she could be with the other exchange students she applied to the program with (she was isolated in this hole with no reason as to why she was the only female student from her group placed here) and the rules for changing are ridiculous and basically impossible- It is a real let down how the French government student housing treats students by providing dorms like...
