We booked a roundtrip from Confolens to Manot. I booked online using Google translate which led me to a little mistake. We were with the two of us so I thought I booked 2 tickets. It turns out I booked 2 railroad bicycles (one carries up to 4 people). The lady at the station was very friendly and corrected my mistake.
In front of the station there's a free parking lot and you can also use a toilet. In Manot there's a picnic area and toilets. You can also buy ice-cream if you'd like.
We took our small dog to the trip with us. Do take a blanket with you because the bicycle has a perforated metal floor. It will make it more comfortable for the dog.
There are also two shopping baskets on the railway bicycle where you can keep your belongings, bags or a small picnic basket.
We booked our trip without a lunch break. As it was not high season we still had about 20 minutes break in Manot before heading back. There was plenty of time for us to eat and use the toilet.
The trip to Manot took us about an hour. It's going very slightly uphill most of the way but pedaling is not very hard. The way back to Confolens took us maybe 40 minutes. Most of the railway is under the trees, making it ideal for warm weather.
