Visiting Parfumerie Fragonard in Grasse was a fantastic experience, especially if you’re interested in the art of perfume-making. The guided tour was informative and fascinating, as we got to learn about the traditional methods used to create fragrances. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, giving us insight into the history of the perfumery and the different scents they create. It’s amazing to see how much craftsmanship goes into each bottle. The museum section is also worth exploring – it gives you a deeper understanding of the evolution of perfume over time, from ancient times to modern-day practices. Of course, the best part was the end of the tour, where you can sample some of their signature perfumes and even purchase a few to take home. The selection is impressive, with scents that range from light and floral to deep and musky. There’s something for everyone. Grasse itself is a beautiful town, and Fragonard fits perfectly into its charm. I highly recommend taking the time to visit if you’re in the area. It’s a unique, sensory experience that leaves you with a deeper appreciation for perfume. Plus, the souvenirs you take home are a great reminder of the trip!

Beautiful museum with nice and helpful employees and free interesting guided tours. Every 30 minutes there is a tour (for free) in either German/English (these two alternate) or french (every other tour). They lead you through the bottling plant, some storage containers, tell you about the different processes for obtaining essence for fragrances, some interesting facts about the scale of perfume production as well as about the education process of a parfumeur, eventually leading into the perfume boutique, where they offer you a few a few samples of their own offers. They don't urge you to buy anything despite the tour being free, which is a nice touch. The people at the tour start (which is on the second lower floor), can help you in French, English or German, which is super helpful :) I'd recommend going there, for sure, if you have the time to spare. A tour takes about 20 minutes

Fragonard - Horrible products designed for mass consumption and naive tourists.

! Please read till the end to possibly save you a lot of money !

We did the free tour they offered for 20 min which was quite interesting. After showing the different stages of the Parfum creation, you are being led to their counters and the guide presents to you 5 perfumes for women and 4 for men for sale. The ones for women are parfum and the ones for men eau de toilette.

So we bought two, “etoile” and “belle cherry” and were sure we made a good decision..

We got deceived by the marketing strategies of the tour they offer you there. Our senses got so impaired to the point where we couldn’t assess the quality of the products any more. We are frequent perfume buyers in the niche realm and this faux paux was quite shocking to us in the aftermath. How was it possible that we bought these horrible perfumes and candles in this place designed to provide a haven for binge shopping?!

We had the products in our car and got so nauseous on our way home that we had to put them in the trash because we couldn’t manage to wait any longer in order to resell them online. It wouldn’t have been a difference if we just burned the 130€ on the spot. In the Hotel, I was desperately trying to get the terrible smell out of my clothes and hair, after 4 (!) showers it started to wear off. It was really unpleasant and agonizing.

To wrap it up - don’t be deceived by their parfum extrait scam that is being sold for way too cheap - Parfum 15 ml for 32€ (?) This cannot be the right pricing if you expect a high standard (!!)

I would recommend sticking to the perfumes that cost a little more but are of high quality like byredo, diptyque, etc.

THIS IS A...

I recently had the chance to visit the Fragonard perfume factory in Grasse, and it was a truly enjoyable experience. The guided tour offered a fascinating look into the history of perfume-making — from traditional methods used in the past to the more modern processes used today. It was insightful to see how fragrances come to life from raw ingredients to beautifully bottled perfumes.

Our guide was exceptionally sweet and knowledgeable. She explained everything clearly, patiently answering all our questions and making the tour engaging and informative.

When it came to the fragrances themselves, I found myself more drawn to the men's collection. While the women's fragrances were undoubtedly long-lasting and well-crafted, many of them felt a bit too deep and heavy for my personal taste — I generally prefer lighter scents. That said, for those who enjoy rich, bold fragrances, the women's selection will certainly impress.

I ended up purchasing two eau de toilettes (EDTs) for men, and I genuinely like both of them. Overall, the visit to Fragonard was a memorable experience, and I’d highly recommend it to anyone interested in the art and history...
