What a perfect few hours we spent in Domaine Des Hautes Collines. We are English and family holiday nearby most years but have never ventured into the vineyards of St Jeannet- and what a shame it’s taken us so long to discover this hidden gem. Amazing value for money and a great day out for family / friends / general wine lovers! And accessible if your French isn’t 100%! Dominique gave us a great verbal tour (in English!) of the intimate vineyard, being both entertaining and factual. She made their wine journey very accessible to those of us with wine knowledge and without, explaining their natural process perfectly. We spent time in the wine caves and their fermenting room, given a great demonstration by George of how they label and decorate their bottles. Further we reached the main event: trying the wine. Samuel and Joelle talked us through 5 wines and gave us generous tastings. Paired with delicious cheese and crackers, they hosted with generosity and care- making sure we were happy and understood all the wines. Paired with the beautiful views, cared for courtyard and wise olive tree (!), we couldn’t have asked for a more perfect few hours- definitely visiting again! (Also- for wine lovers: they specialise in biodynamic and natural wines which were so delicious. Their method of fermenting the wines in glass bottles in the sun was especially exciting and original- I just adored every minute. Couldn’t recommend...
Read moreSo amazing! This was our absolute favorite vineyard outside of Nice - it is such a beautiful view of the surrounding area and the property is well kept.
The tour itself was wonderful - our host Jean let us sample several different wines straight from the tanks that had only been harvested several days earlier so that we were able to taste different alcohol contents and flavors. He also showed us all of the other steps in the process - so much more in-depth and first-hand than typical vineyard experiences.
The tasting was also incredible - 6 wines for a modest price - and many unique wines. The coolest part is seeing their special aging process using natural sun light to age the wines outdoors over the course of multiple months.
We also loved the artwork on the bottles and in the wine cave - Jean’s brother is an artist who paints all of their labels and they are so beautiful and unique to their...
Read moreEverything about this place is wonderful. The wines are "nature" and undergo a noteworthy fermentation/vinification process that is special to this winery and give them a more natural taste that is delicious! George is the friendliest person (breaking all stereotypes that the French are rude) and will welcome you with a smile and show you all the steps in the wine making process (he does everything himself). If that doesn't satisfy you, the location is beautiful, away from touristy Nice and at the base of the impressive Baou. Between the wines and the view, you'll never...
