An excellent place to go to see some incredible natural world. We took the kids and they enjoyed it. My daughter is a wheelchair user and they were very helpful and the guide made things easier for us. She couldn't get round all the caves but we saw nearly all of it. It's a pretty steep hill up to the cave itself, so pushing her up was a bit tricky but we managed. Not sure how well electric wheelchairs would handle this. And there's a few bit ridges too. We arrived at about 12:30pm. It was a little busy but we got a slot at 1:20pm. We didn't pack any lunch assuming there would be a place to get lunch there. There's a bar that does just drinks and ice creams and a brasserie that did a selection of food my kids would not want to eat. Shame there's no sandwiches or frites on offer. Doesn't seem very French!
The caves were fascinating and beautiful. Very impressive indeed. The guide was talking French (although she was excellent at English too). We didn't get the full experience. My wife is pretty good at French so got a few facts. It took just over an hour. It's quite chilly in there so wrap up small children a little.
It was super-busy on our way back down to the carpark. My wife heard that that they were telling people it's 2 hour wait in the queue about 3pm. So if you go later, expect to wait a long time. It's worth a wait but 2 hours? Hmm. It take a while to get up there. Lots of twisty, motion sickness inducing roads. But beautiful views.
All in all a great experience. Just go early and take a packed lunch or just be prepared to be...
Read moreThis is such a beautiful cave made by Mother Nature. I was so amazed by just looking at all the stalactites, stalagmites, beautiful soda straws, columns, and flowstones. They’ve been there for over 1000 years. There are small and medium underground lakes around the cave with fresh water, and a few lazy moving animals could make your kids interested. This is a cave that both adults and children alike can enjoy visiting.. After walking through a thousand stairs, you will enjoy a show of lights near the end of the tour. It is definitely worth it. Entering with a cardigan or a jacket in summer could help. We did visit with a one hour tour, and our tour guide spoke both French and English. Outside the cave, there is a restaurant with a beautiful view and a gift shop. If you still have time after visiting the cave, you can ask your tour guide the way to walk around, or walk to the waterfall that is not far away from the cave. I highly recommend booking the ticket online before visiting, it could save you a lot of time. The price of a ticket for adults is 12€, children from 0 to 3 years old is 1.50€ , 4 years old to 14 years old is 7.50€, 15 years old to 18 years...
Read moreVery nice and interesting caces!
At the entrance there is a cafe where it is possible to stop for eating other drinking something. It is also where you stop for buying the tickets in case you have not done it online.
After that, a small path takes you to a waiting area in front of the caves. It is here where you wait for the guide and in the meantime you can read about the caves and some archeological information about the area.
Once the tour begins you are given an audioguide. English, German, Russian, Chinese, Arabic, Spanish, Portuguese, Polish, and Italian are available.
Inside the cave guide will accompany and turn on the lights inside the caves at the various stations of the tours. We also saw the animals that inhabit the caves on the aquariums. The audioguide I had gave some information but then the tour guide gave a lot of extra information in French which unfortunately I could not understand.
Once the tour is completed, you simply give the audioguide back and exit the cave.
Overall I recommend this visit a lot as it was very...
