I first visited the gardens around fifteen years ago and had some vague memory of sculpture, striking views, still water and eccentricity. Since my last visit the gardens have matured into an incredible spatial experience full of humour and natural beauty. It pays to explore and look for special vistas - there are treats hidden around every corner. I was struck by the polemic at the entrance that talked of unique gardens of a time, place and personality and Les Jardins Des sambucs feel at once unique and yet distinctly Cevenol.
