My daughter and I visited in early August, and what a superb experience. I’ve always wanted to go and visit the place wheee Richard the Lionheart met his untimely end, some of his remains buried in the medieval chapel, and Châlus did not disappoint. We have been coming to this area for 20 years (we have had a holiday home here) this is the first visit to the castle, WOW what a fabulous place. The owner and his sister are so welcoming, friendly and helpful. They have a snack bar with drinks and ice creams and a souvenir shop and it's only 6 euros per person to enter, so much to see and some fantastic history to engage in, all in the information booklet in English as well. What a great find! Easy walking distance from the village, the owner of this chateau has obviously spent a huge amount of time and effort restoring this place so the public can visit. There’s a great little cafe with the most amazing views, the toilets are also really up together which is unusual in places like this! Great to be able to walk around places like this and get a feel for all the history...
