The underwater museum near Cannes, known as the Underwater Sculpture Museum (Musée Subaquatique de Cannes), is a unique art installation located underwater near the Lérins Islands, just off the coast of Cannes. Concept of the Museum

The museum consists of six large sculptures submerged at a depth of about 3-5 meters on the seabed, and they can be viewed by scuba diving, snorkeling, or even swimming on the surface. Each sculpture represents enlarged faces of Cannes residents, crafted in the style of masks. These masks symbolize the protection of nature and a call to preserve marine ecosystems.

The sculptures are made from eco-friendly materials, designed to integrate with the marine environment over time, contributing to the formation of artificial reefs. This helps restore marine ecosystems and attracts marine life such as fish, algae, and corals. Thus, the museum serves not only an artistic function but also an ecological one.

Purpose of the Museum

The main purpose of the underwater museum in Cannes is to draw attention to the issues of environmental protection and the restoration of marine ecosystems, which are suffering from human impact, particularly pollution, climate change, and overfishing. Taylor uses his art as a means to raise awareness and create harmony between humanity and nature.

The installation was placed in a specially selected area, cleared of old nets and debris, making the location not only a center of art but also an ecological regeneration zone.
