We have been to Wissant several times in the motorhome as there is an aire de camping car on the outskirts of the village. This is the first time that we have had a walk to the beach and I'm sure that most of the motorhomers don't bother to visit the village or the beach due to the distance, as the majority of people in motorhomes are fairly elderly. It would be nice if the mairie would allow daytime motorhome parking closer to the beach, especially during the winter months when the holiday apartments are empty. Having said that, the beach is very nice, lots of soft sand, fossils and other artifacts to find. At present, due to the winter storms, the forest bed has...

Ugly, cemented, square.

The view is nice and only the hope to see some day the British coast make is a good place to visit. The services are like in the roaring 1950s and more : industrial ice-cream, the same quality one gets in the supermarkets, but at tourist trap prices. Same goes for the frozen fries or chips.

On the plus side, the place can get lively on a nice day, but it will abruptly end when it's time to put the children to bed. Hence, it is more for the families than for a trendy crowd.

And the parking is a pain, because the public authority living on the touristic taxes assumes Wissant is somehow like Paris and you can take the subway...

EN: Nice beach but sometimes not safe enough due to presence of life threatening & dangerous elements (see the marked photos, sharp iron rods are there almost camouflaged)! I am not sure the water mixing in the see how safe it is. However it's a lovely & beautiful beach.
