Museum of the Resistance and Deportation of Ain — Attraction in Nantua

A very thoughtfully curated museum telling a vital story of striking contemporary resonance in an imaginative and artful way. Quite a collection of WW2 artifacts (uniforms, arms) from all sides: French, British, German and USA. Some excellent audiovisuals / animations. Most welcoming staff. I'm very glad that my family and I visited and even more grateful that brave people did make great personal sacrifice to shake off a brutal authoritarian power. My father fought in the British Expeditionary Force in France in 1940 and was evacuated from Dunkirk, so there were personal connections too. Magnifique musée malgré les petits bémol qui on fait baisser ma note: -en premier lieux en accueil très froid qui a marqué un bon nombre de mes camarades de classe (car nous étions en sortie scolaire ), seul une des guides à su se monter gentille a notre égard. -second point, après le vol d'enceintes par un camarade de notre groupe, l'une des guides ( la plus méchante : blonde, l'air vieille, froide...) nous a tous crier dessus et à porté plainte contre le voleur alors qu'elle avait dit que si les enceintes étaient rendu, elle ne porterait pas plainte. Elle a donc écourté notre visite. -troisième et dernier point un des guides est allé gronder notre professeur qui était aller prendre l'air car il avait chaud en prétextant qu'il ne surveillait pas son groupe qui apparemment fesait le bordel. Very nice museum on the local resistance during WW2. Visit texts are available in french, english and braille. Videos also have sign language. There are lots of chairs for anyone wishing to sit during the visit. A lift is also there for people having difficulties with steps. The price range is very...
