Booked 2 days with Lyvai Tours. Day 1 Green Train plus hop on hop off. Day 2 just hop on hop off bus. My Carnival cruise changed our Itinerary and we were only going to stop in Noumea for 1 day. I contacted Lyvai via email and the website. They were slow to respond but when they finally did. They said not to stress and that they would sort it out on the day I arrive. I was expecting it to be a bit of a drama. I was completely wrong. Not only did they accommodate my change of day but they also refunded me my 2nd day with cash on the day. The Green train was well worth it. The captain and guide are awesome. You really get to see most of Noumea. The hop on and hop off bus was definitely the better option with Lyvai compared to the cruise bought hop on hop off buses. The cruise buses are oversold and do not have enough buses for everyone. This left a lot of travellers stranded. Not for us Lyvai passengers though. Free wifi and air conditioning were a massive plus. Both options were at least half the price of the cruise bought excursions. Lyvai is local and the money stays local. Cruise bought excursions pay the big corporations. If I could give 100 stars I would. Thank you Lyvai. I will recommend to everyone your...
Read moreWe did the Green Train tour - we didn't pre-book but bought it at the cruise terminal. NOTE: TRIPLE check that you have all of your tickets (not just the receipt). Our friends were almost denied boarding - they handed over the bundle of tickets/receipts that we had received from the manager earlier at the cruise terminal, not realising that the manager had left off one ticket (but we had the receipt to show the correct payment). The staff who were checking the tickets was really rude and wouldn't help to resolve the problem. Fortunately the tour guide who saw us buy the tickets from his manager, came over and sorted it out. The Green Train itself was really fun, informative and was a great easy way to do a tour. We did it as 2 families with kids aged...
Read moreThe sales people are very nice and informative. However, the bus drivers are a different story. We bought the HOHO bus tickets, and there is no timetable, you just wait until the next one comes. They say the last one is at 3.30pm but doesn’t specify from which stop. Furthermore, the bus we got on sat at a stop for 10 minutes before driving again. When we first got on we told them we wanted to go to the Aquarium, and he said yes. As we approached the aquarium we pressed the stop button too. He literally drove past it. He drove past all the stops, and only stopped to pick up people - this was at 2pm as well. Not...
