Managed to squeeze in a brief park walk on our last day & if you like beautiful plants and ample foliage to provide shade this is a great place to chill out - bring a picnic lunch there are lots of spots to settle on but no feeding the animals!!

It was nice that the endemic fauna are close enough to really appreciate as I don’t think a cagou in the wild would have let us get so close.

That said, some of the bird enclosures are a bit small though & we only checked out the endemic section so we never witnessed what others have mentioned about mammals being kept in very confined spaces which possibly exist in other sections.

It’s quite hilly and the further you descend the longer you’ll inevitably need to ascend so keep this in mind if walking on inclines or declines are problematic.

Would loved to have spent longer & made a...

Visited here while on a stopover in a cruise ship. Very spacious layout. A good day of walking with plenty of Hills to meet your fitness goals. However if you prefer not to walk you can hire a Segway and even have a guided tour on them. Many varied species of birds laid throughout the park. Many peacocks roaming freely which is nice. Some monkeys which were a highlight and when saw some barnyard animals. For overseas visitors entry is via French Frank however if you only American or Australian they will accept donations for entry without change. Very helpful staff and willing to organise taxi for you when you've enjoyed...

Very enjoyable day out. Great opportunity to see Lego Cagou in an enclosed environment. Many albino pea fowl wandering the grounds. Has a great cafe onsite not far from the entrance. Bring plenty of water as it can get very hot walking around in the heat. Went during the middle of the week and there weren't too many people around. A little way away from Numea, so you'll have to take a taxi if you don't have a rental car. Recommended to see Cagou; especially if you're unable to get out into the wild for a...

This zoo is an absolute delight to visit, offering a tranquil escape into nature. The park is beautifully maintained, with lush greenery and a variety of animals in thoughtfully designed enclosures. The highlight for me was seeing the peacocks and other exotic birds freely roaming around, adding a unique charm to the experience. The layout of the zoo makes it easy to explore, with plenty of shaded areas for a relaxing walk. A must-visit for families or anyone looking to connect with wildlife in a serene setting!

Nice large park to take a walk, but nothing too fancy regarding the animals. In particular the cages are quite basic and not really pretty. Petting zoo seems to be closed and has been for some time. In face of the small fee it might be worth a visit, but Nouméa has much better attractions if you have limited time. E.g. the Lagoon aquarium was otherworldly compared to this park/zoo.
