This is by far the worst five star hotel I have ever stayed in. I have never felt the need to write a review in my life until now. My group and I were in town for the horse show in Fontainebleau, and had five rooms in total yet were still treated terribly. To begin on a positive note, the restaurant was fine. Flowers in it were fake, though. First of all, upon our arrival, we had little help with our bags. Next, we were starving and called to ask for room service at 4pm, and they said the kitchen was closed, despite the room service menu and the website advertising 24 hour room service. When I tried to communicate that with them they simply laughed and hung up. We also found an extremely large bug in our room. On the last day, we wanted to utilize the hot tub and pool in the spa. We asked the woman at the front desk, and she said the spa closed at 8, but it was “not possible” for us to use the facilities, despite it being 6:30. When we asked why, she said it was full. However, we had been in there and seen only a single person so we communicated this to her. She repeatedly said it was not possible whenever I asked why and was snide, rolling her eyes every time I tried to understand why it was not possible. Her and other staff members then proceeded to laugh at me as I walked away for no reason. I was very kind to every staff member here and was met with largely nothing but unwelcoming disgust. Furthermore, this place is in the middle of nowhere, no nearby restaurants or anything to do off the property. Fontainebleau is a solid thirty minutes away, and it takes about an hour for the hotel to get a car and they will once again roll their eyes like you are a burden if you ask. Maybe it is because I am American, but be warned. Do not stay here....
Read moreWe traveled to France for the Ryder Cup tournament, and stayed at a hotel in Paris during the four days of the tournament. After the hustle and bustle of the city, and crowds at tournament, we wanted something quiet, in a country setting, yet not too far from Paris. We would be flying out of Paris at the end of the trip and wanted to spend maximum time relaxing, minimum time driving. We were very happy with everything at Chaateau d'Augerville - the accommodation (suite room) and beautiful setting in this historic chateau set in the wooded property. Very peaceful. We enjoyed the golfing, the spa (hydrotherapy facility was excellent), the gastronomic restaurant, and the lovely breakfast buffet. The whole experience was perfect and exactly what we were looking for. It was a good value for the money, especially after having been in Paris central where hotels are quite expensive. Special recognition to Faris who checked us in on arrival and looked after us, helping with arrangements, etc. He made us feel especially welcome. Had we gone to Chateau d'Augerville first, we probably would have made it our home base for the entire time, and just taken a couple day trips into Paris. If I were to make one small recommendation, the shower needs a place to set soap or shampoo bottles. Without a ledge or shelf the only option is to place items on the floor, which tended to fill up with standing water very quickly. But that was just a small thing. Otherwise the bathroom was beautiful and very...
Read moreTerrible experience at this property! We booked a 3 night stay and only stayed one night since this was absolutely not what we had expected for a supposedly 5 star experience. This was supposed to be a relaxing trip with my mother and it turned out to be a disaster. ||By reading the reviews I see that others fell in the same trap as us. We were sold a stay at a Château and ended up in what might have been prior the maid quarters in a tiny and dirty room (photos included) 300 meters from the chateau. ||The manager there Lucie (who happens to also be the daughter of the owner) only cares about the groups that stay there and gives the worst rooms to the individual travelers. When we shared our concerns to her, she did not give a crap about concerns and was absolutely rude to us! Not professional with an arrogant attitude and she totally looked down on us. I stayed in many 5 star properties in my life as an executive traveling the world but this one is a total rip-off! There is not even a coffee machine in the room. They give you a tea kettle to make your coffee… and the cheapest of all they give you one tiny carton water per room (which would not even be enough for one person) and don’t replenish it when the room is cleaned. ||The restaurant manager on the other hand Kevin and Night Shift associate Mounir were absolutely kind to us so in a sea of disappointment we were grateful to...
