This is still a zoo!

Although sometimes offering larger enclosures to animals, safari parks are still zoos with the same issues and animal welfare problems. They still keep animals captive against their will. They still swap animals with other zoos. And it turns out they still force animals to live in restricted space.

In keeping animals captive, there is always a price to be paid... and sadly it is the animals who pay. Wild animals should be wild, free to experience all the complexities of their own lives. An individual living in the wild would be free to roam, in some animals cases they can travel for thousands of miles. They would be free to raise a family, forage, play, eat their natural foods and find a mate. They can go where they choose to when they want to. When they are kept captive in safari parks, even though they may have a bit more space, all of this is denied to them.

Animals should not spend their entire lives in captivity simply to fulfil our desire...

Dreadful! It’s the 1st August : our family - seven of us, my father in law (81)has a walking stick. We were not informed about the very steep, slippery and uneven terrain. Once they took our money 115 euros :17€ per adult ,15€ per child. We were told it’s a randonée (a walkabout). But the young ladies on reception are quite uninformative and untrained about advising the unwitting visitors’ needs or potential pitfalls (if elderly or otherwise impaired) about the imminent assault course: we felt it would be fairly even walking paths but no ! There are some benches sparsely populated on route. So, after 10 minutes we left - a very expensive excursion. No signs about the rugged terrain and expect no information from the girls debiting...

Long drive to park, got there and the place is almost deserted. Park was open so we paid to go round. Was a little disappointed that we couldn't take our pushchair around the park (not sure why not). Initially impressed with enclosures until we saw the bears. There was one bear who was quite stressed and just kept walking round and round in circles. Exhibiting repetitive behaviour, very sad to see. Back to shop to hopefully get a souvenir of our trip but nothing available, not even a bottle of water. Go prepared with a picnic if you intend to visit. Don't think we will go back though. Staff were not very...

A great place to visit. The terrain is uneven so not suitable for pushchair/wheelchair or anyone unsteady on their feet. We saw all of the different animals and loved the yellow route around the park. There are no toilets during the walk so make sure you go before you start! I had trainers on but wished I hady hiking shoes as some areas are quite steep. My main criticism is there was no soap in the ladies toilet!
