I had been to the Normandy Victory Museum before it was with the present owners, and then after the current owners re-opened it. It was good, but there was a display on collaboration and it offended my wife and I as it said most collaboration was by French women sleeping with German soldiers, which just was not accurate. Even though we holidayed in Normandy, we swore we would not go back until this false statement was corrected. We took a chance this year, as we now live in Normandy and were very pleasantly surprised as the display on life under the Germans was accompanied by a very balanced explanation of the collaboration and no longer were French women unfairly singled out. The displays are even better than when we were last there, there was lot of room to examine the displays and descriptions without hindering the movement of others who were less interested. They have a great collection of equipment, both German and American and it is displayed very well. I can now highly recommend the Normandy Victory Museum as a place that visitors to Normandy should visit, as they will be missing out, if they don’t visit it! -...
Read moreAnother one of the places we visited while holidaying in France. This place is right along side the motorway N13 I think. Anyway you can't miss it if you are driving west bound. This museum is all about what the Americans did during the war. The museum is a great place lots to see and fascinating things to look at. You need to spend time in the museum as there are a lot of things to read about. The parking is free and it costs 9 euros per adult. Well worth it as it took us about 2 hours to go through and see and read what was on offer. There are toilets and a bar, cafe and I think there was a restaurant on the same grounds which are not part of the museum but all part of the complex. I have only given this place 4 stars as it is very unusual, you'll know what I mean...
Read moreNormandy Victory Museum was a great surprise for us. We visited a lot of Museum during our stay and this one was special. They managed to collect a lot of staff from the World War 2 and organized a kind of "live" path. You walk through different situations from the war and the D Day landings and it's a bit like if you were there. There's a lot of vehicles and material. Pretty impressive! We also tried the tank ride (really recommend it, it's lot of fun) and the simulators. They were not all fully operational (4 different kind of simulators) but the one I tried was good. Wanted to try the 40's restaurant but unfortunately, it was not opened so can't tell you how it was. The shop of the museum was good too! We bought quite a lot of...
