Blue Escale - Vanilla Workshop — Attraction in Saint-Pierre

We visited this beautiful vanilla refinery when driving around and we were very suprised by kind aproach to visitors. Mr. Jonathan provided us with excelent guided tour in english and told us lots of interesting information about growing, harvesting and refining vanilla including facts about history of vanilla on the island and modern scientific researches as well. We really enjoyed his presentation. Blue Escale also has nice souvenir shop with lots of original vanilla gifts. Definitely...

Went there for the guided visit. Done just in the same place.. bit of the garden and the 2 rooms so don't expect a big setup! It's a small family run place. How the vanilla is done was very well explained from A to Z. Bought vanilla made by them..some of the best quality available according to the experts..or so I heard. Don't know whether they do explanations in English though as the group I was in...

Nous nous sommes arrêtées un matin spécialement pour acheter de la vanille. Nicole était au comptoir de son magasin, paraissant un peu froide de premier abord. Personne d'autre que nous. L'ambiance s'est vite détendue quand elle a entendu les renseignements et les conseils que je communiquais à mon amie, sur la conservation de la vanille (je m'étais bien renseignée la veille sur internet en prenant des infos sur les produits et l'atelier). Nicole est finalement super sympa, on a bien rigolé et elle nous a donné de supers conseils, nous a fait goûter la vanille et ses subtilités et nous a transmis sa passion, ce fut un excellent moment au magasin.
