"Le Mystère des Faluns" - Les Perrières — Attraction in Saumur

Amazing place! We arrived quite late (90 minutes before closing) but still had plenty of time to visit the site.

It was very interesting to see how these caves came about and all the art installations that are now in place.

Well catered to the non-French speaking tourist. Friendly staff and ample parking space. I would advise to bring a jumper or something else warm as the temperature down in the caves is about 12°C year round which is quite a shock if it's...

The experience is somewhere between the real history and an art/conceptual museum. The animations, sound design and artwork are amazingly planned out and melt together wonderfully, so it makes you wonder about the larger questions in life. I would have wished perhaps for some more "hard facts" but on the other hand, the Chapel-like structures and the storytelling was very compelling and artfully done. Underrated to be honest. There weren't many people when i visited. The cave is absolutely amazing! It gives you a feel for how the caves were made and how the landscape was before the caves were a thing. It does a really good job at explaining things with sounds and visuals instead of words, so any language can understand the message. I can definetly recommend going to the caves!
