A gem of a place and well worth seeking out as away from the centre to the west. A well maintained a fully stocked park with beautiful planting, carex for by an army of gardeners.there are many stunning and varied areas of differing habitat including a canal and large pond. Plenty of shaded areas and benches to enjoy lunch. Free to enter and plenty of grass that you can actally sit on to picnic. A little gem of a place and our favourite place in the whole of Tours. Unsure about the wallabys... they didnt look enthralled at being there, but a little farm with different species like emu flamingos and turtles etc. Lovely childrens areas too. Will definitely visit there again

I would say the nicest park in Tours. Different parts with exotic animals, plants and a lot to read. I personally liked very much the "evolution garden" with explaination of the earth and the roots of all plants and animaks, and ok also the human beeings. The came very late in earthage time... Inside the park is a huge exotic planthouse, which sometimes is ooen and cost some money. Also some nice lakes with flamingos and other birds round the arrangament up.

This place is a great way to spend a few hours with a family. It has lots of pathways to walk, wide enough for a stroller. It has a fool petting zoo with pigs, a donkey, chickens and goats. there is a public restroom available, a small cafe with snacks, and plenty of benches. Entry is free. There is also an exhibit that has different microclimates like a rainforest and the desert. Plus, they have a pond where you can watch the ducks!

Man muss Frühling besuchen The Jardin botanique de Tours (5 hectares) is a municipal botanical garden and arboretum located at 33, Boulevard Tonnellé, Tours, Indre-et-Loire, Centre-Val de Loire, France. It is open daily; admission is free.

The garden was established by public subscription in 1843 at the initiative of pharmacist Jean-Anthyme Margueron (1771–1848), and is the oldest public garden in the city. In response to the 1841 creation of the city's Hospice Général et de l’Ecole Préparatoire de Pharmacie, it began as a collection of about 2,000 medical and exotic plants arranged in greenhouses(containing about 500 plants), orchard, and garden proper. It was flooded by the Loire in 1848 and again in 1856, to a depth of 2 metres, which required rebuilding the garden and replacing most of its trees. In 1863 an orangery and animal park were added, and then in 1890 new greenhouses (cold, temperate, and hot) under the direction of Louis Madelin, with the garden's first seed catalog published in 1901. The greenhouses were damaged by bombardments in World War II.

The garden currently contains about 2,000 taxa, organized as follows:

North - regular parterres along an avenue of magnolias, with a pool containing water lilies and lotus; renovated in 1980 to contain theme gardens and a phylogenetic garden.

East - bulbs, rhizomes, and perennials, as well as a garden of plant evolution.

South - an excellent arboretum in the English style, a pond, and a "garden of simples" as in medieval gardens.

West - heath, bog, Mediterranean garden, and alpine garden.

The garden also contains an orangery, exhibition greenhouses, and a small space...

Beautiful garden with a café, petting zoo, many different animals, nice walkways, and an area for plants with medicinal use. It's nice and calming for a nice stroll where you can see plants from around the world and maps to tell you from where they are from. There are bridges too that you can use to cross a stream and observe the water. Many birds chirp. I try go there if I have time at the end of my lunch break from my research just across the street by the Hôpital Bretonneau. Similar to the botanical garden in Poitiers but I think a bit bigger and definitely with more animals. I hope...
