Ahrschleife bei Altenahr — Attraction in Altenahr

First of all: Hiking & Biking south of this valley is still possible and beautiful ! Yes, the catastrophic flood destroyed a lot in the valley of the river Ahr (including the Langfigtal), and the inhabitants are very busy with rebuilding. But they are rebuilding, and the rest of us can still enjoy the area - without getting in their way. The path south-east of the hostel is currently gone, as is the bridge in the southeast area of this loop of the river, but we can still approach Hornberg /Teufelsloch and Schrock /Teufelsley from the south. The Engelsley might be accessible from the north, but I haven't found a good place to park yet (the parking lot in Altenahr is now part of the river Ahr). I recommend parking to the south of Altenahr, at the Steinerberghaus or in the eastern part of Ahrbrück, and hiking /biking from there. The Steinerberghaus has continuously been reachable from the Autobahn A61 using exit 'Wehr'. As of this evening, it is also reachable via the B257 from Gelsdorf, going to and through Ahrbrück. Wie auch schon in den letzten 6 Jahren, sind mein Mann und ich dieses Jahr schon zum zweiten Mal zur Ahr gefahren. Da wir in den letzten zwei Jahren auch das Wandern für uns entdeckt haben, ist die Gegend rund um die Ahr, natürlich predisteniert. Man kann herrlich durch die Weinberge wandern und zu jeder Jahreszeit, ist es immer wieder ein faszinierender Anblick. Wir haben jüngst angefangen den Rotweinwanderweg zu erlaufen/ wandern und freuen uns schon auf die nächste Tour, da das Ahrtal oder auch Alles, rund um die Weinberge, tolle Wanderreviere sind. Ob mit Kindern oder ohne, ob anspruchsvoll oder nur mal eben so, zum spazieren gehen.....für Jeden "Gänger" ist was dabei. Unterwegs findet man immer ein Lokal, in dem man einkehren kann und die ganzen Wanderstrecken sind nicht überfüllt. Der Eine geht den Weg von Anfang bis Ende und der Andere fängt hinten an und wandert sich langsam nach vorne....
