One of the most beautiful lakes in Bavaria and indeed a great place to take a boat/cruise ride, ride or drive around it, swim in to and of course to enjoy the spectacle of the Alps visible on the southern end... The lake is surrounded by 8-9 beautiful villages.. Starnberg being the biggest and most popular of them... where the lake also gets its name from. There are many parks and bathing grounds around the entire lake too...some private some public.. though in the summers there's a problem of mosquitoes around the areas that are too green.

I visited in early March so I experienced most of the Winter breeze. You can arrive at this place by taking either an S6 from Hauptbahnhof heading towards Tutzing or RE Bahn from München Hbf (near Hauptbahnhof) to Starnberg. This lake is spanned across a very large area, and you can enjoy the view from many stations from Starnberg onward. There are local food joints and souvenirs shops. When I visited, it was almost sunset and the sky became really beautiful. I highly recommend this place to be visited in the evening.

The lake and the surrounding area are absolutely gorgeous, particularly in autumn. But it's also nicer on a summer day when you can actually see on the other side of the lake. The woods around are perfect for a stroll, and close to the harbour, there are many places to grab food, coffee or snacks. Very lovely if you happen to be in the area, but probably you should not go out of your way to see this place if you have other plans.

Most amazing place to relax and just enjoy the natural beauty of Bavarian state. Especially summer is best place to visit Starnberg lake view is best and local stores offer you boating option and have fun with love ones or friends and best part around is local food with view of see 😍 including gift shop where you can get souvenirs to remember best moment of it. All together this place is worth visiting.

Jezioro Starnberg to wspaniałe miejsce na letni wypoczynek. Dla surferów, żeglarzy, nurków i tych, co tylko lubią posiedzieć na brzegu i podziwiać piękne widoki. Jest tu wszystko i dla ciała i dla ducha. Biała flota proponuje piękne rejsy po jeziorze albo rejsy tematyczne. Są też "bankiety na wodzie". Jezioro polodowcowe powstało 10000 lat temu. Zajmuje 57 km kwadratowych, jest bardzo głębokie - 127 metrów. W nadbrzeżnych miejscowościach czekają na nas liczne atrakcje. W Possenhofen jest zamek, w którym urodziła się Sisi, późniejsza cesarzowa Austrii i muzeum jej poświęcone w budynku dworca kolejowego. Stąd można wybrać się na Wyspę Róż, czyli Roseninsel gdzie mamy przepiękny "park z tysiącem róż" i pałacyk, w którym potajemnie spotykał się król Ludwik II z Sisi. W miejscowości Berg, w parku nad jeziorem jest kaplica wotywna powstała po tragicznej śmierci Bajkowego Króla Ludwika II Bawarskiego i pamiątkowy krzyż w jeziorze. Zamek Berg jest własnością prywatną i nie ma możliwości zwiedzania. Z Monachium S6 zawiezie nas bezpośrednio do Starnberg, tuż obok przystani statków spacerowych. Polecam bardzo.

My visit to Lake Starnberg in the evening was a magical experience. I hopped on the RE from Munich, and in under 20 minutes, I was there, right before sunset. The lake's vastness and depth left me in awe, and it's my go-to place for a relaxing run. The tranquility of the evenings by the lake is something I look forward to escaping the city's chaos.
