🇩🇪 Munich Hiking | Alpine Hidden Gems — Lakes Edition (Final Part)

Having hiked around Munich for 5 years, I’ve explored almost every treasure lake in the German Alps — all by public transport! 🚆 This is the second part of a 3-series guide. Stay tuned for more updates 👀💧 📍 Geroldsee | Beautiful in every season ⏱ Hike Duration: Loop around the lake — 40 mins ⭐ Difficulty: Easy 🚞 Transport: From Munich Hbf (Platform 27), take RB6 to Garmisch → switch to Bus 9618 or 9608. Total travel: 1h 52min 💡 Tip: Some grassy areas are marked—please don’t step on them! It’s a 9-min walk from the bus stop to the lake. Allow extra time for photos and picnics 📸🧺 📍 Soiernseen | Best from June to October ⏱ Hike Duration: 8h 30min (at least 4h one way) ⭐ Difficulty: High — hiking boots and poles recommended 🥾 🚌 Transport: From Munich Hbf (Platform 27), take RB6 to Garmisch → Bus 9618 to Krün 💡 Tip: If a day trip is too tight, book a hut near the lake — Soiernhaus. Check my previous guide for details! 📍 Bodensee ⏱ Recommended Time: 2-4 hours for a leisurely stroll ⭐ Difficulty: Very easy — perfect for a walk 🚞 Transport: From Munich Hbf (Platforms 29-30), take RE70/96 directly to Lindau. Travel time: 2h 35min 📍 Starnberger See ⏱ Recommended Time: 1-3 hours ⭐ Difficulty: Leisurely walk 🚞 Transport: From Munich Hbf underground S-Bahn station, take S6 directly to the lake. Travel: 34min 💡 Tip: The castle walls offer great views! 🏰 📍 Schmalensee | Beautiful year-round ⏱ Hike Duration: Loop — 30 mins. You can also visit Buckelwiesen Meadow (see previous notes) ⭐ Difficulty: Easy — lakeside stroll-friendly 🚞 Transport: Option 1: Munich Hbf (Platform 27) → RB6 to Garmisch → Bus 9608 (2h 28min). Option 2: Platform 28 → RB66 to Kochel → Bus 9608 (2h 24min) 🧭 General Tips: 1️⃣ Must bring: Hiking boots, sunglasses, waterproof jacket, 1L water, some cash 💧🕶️ 2️⃣ Transport: Check routes in advance with DB App — poor signal in mountains.
