Finally made it out to the Grunewald Tower, and I'm kicking myself for not going sooner! What a hidden gem. From the moment you approach, the red brick tower standing tall against the green backdrop of the forest is just captivating. The climb up the spiral staircase is a bit of a workout, but honestly, the anticipation of the view kept me going. And let me tell you, the view? Absolutely breathtaking! You get this incredible 360-degree panorama of the Havel River winding its way through the lush Grunewald, and beyond that, the sprawling cityscape of Berlin. It’s a perfect spot for photography, or just to take a moment and soak it all in. I spent ages just admiring the scenery. The tower itself has such a rich history, being a memorial to Kaiser Wilhelm I. The interior memorial hall, though small, is beautifully detailed with mosaics and the statue, and it adds a real sense of historical depth to the visit. You can feel the weight of the past within those walls. The neo-Gothic architecture is also stunning, a testament to the craftsmanship of the late 19th century. Beyond the tower, the surrounding Grunewald forest is just magical. I took a leisurely stroll along one of the trails, enjoying the peace and quiet. It's a world away from the hustle and bustle of the city, even though it's so close. It's a perfect combination of cultural and natural experiences. Accessibility was surprisingly good, and there are a couple of small cafes and restaurants nearby, which is perfect for a post-climb refreshment. I’d recommend going on a sunny day for the best views, but I imagine it’s beautiful in any weather. If you’re visiting Berlin or live here and haven’t been, make time for the Grunewald Tower. You won’t regret it. It's a truly special place that offers a unique perspective on the city and...

Read moreThis is a very beautiful Outpost and extremely accessible via the public transport. It's a beautiful 100 year old Gothic structure. You must be wondering about the 3 stars !!! A few things to be cautious about. #1 You are entering the Tower at your own risk (it's actually written there)...I don't even know why would someone write it that way. #2 They close the exit gate of the tower at sometime in the evening (I don't even know the time). I tried to get out at 1930 and the gates were locked. That's it! So I jumped..might not be the most convenient option #3 The charge for entering the tower is Euro 4.00 and on the ticket it's written that you can get a Euro back if you decide to use the services of their...
