Summer’s worth going to here Has a tiny mix of everything for everyone. The drinks and food along with entry around are slightly steep but I guess that also demands for quality control

Also ich liebe diesen Ort.

Nice beach, nice water , cool peoples. Real Berlin vibes. With new management seems more appropriate for hangouts and swimming also enjoying the culinary scene.

Plötzensee (German: [ˈplœtsənzeː] i) is a small glacial lake in Berlin. It is situated in the former borough of Wedding, now a part of Mitte, adjacent to the public park Volkspark Rehberge. The name stems from Plötze, one name for the roach in German, as the lake formerly teemed with it. Plötzensee is part of a chain of lakes stretching from the northeast to the Spree valley, formed in the last ice age. Until 1443, the nunnery of St. Mary at Spandau had the rights to the lake, but these were eventually assumed by the Prussian treasury. In 1817, the city of Berlin bought the lake and leased the rights to the shoreline and fishing.

The first public bath opened about 1850 and over the years, there have been an army sporting ground, a man-made beach (photo), an inn, and the conversion of the shore into a public park in the 1920s.

Plötzensee also gives its name to Plötzensee Prison, built nearby in the 19th century, which reached its height of notoriety in the time...

If ever a german tourist (or any north European) comes to some Mediterranean country saying something is too expensive or too crowded just tell them to "go back" to Plötzensee. It's overpriced, crowded, with the exception that it's not a clear sea beach but a murky lake water beach. If you are not one of the cool crowds that have their own secret lake spot around Berlin than you go here like me ¯(ツ)/¯ The one thing that is better is to not go into the paid and fenced area where the sand beach is but jump the fence on the other side of the lake and at least don't be in the thick of it. Another good thing is that if you are a peasant without a car, this lake is nicely reachable by public...

Amazing owner and staff...! I'm still speechless in how carefully, professionally and kind the owner and three men of the staff handled a delicate matter concerning two drunk young men flirting inappropriately with my 13-year-old daughter and her 10-year-old friend who's also a girl. They seemed to have a very calm and extremely professional but clear conversation with the guys and made them leave the Strandbad. They came and talked to us three times and made sure we were then feeling safe and happy for the rest of our stay. Big, big thank you to you guys. I wish u and your guests as much success as you've had...
