I was stationed nearby in Fulda in the US Army in 1978. Me and a couple of buddies drove up to Kloster Kreuzberg one early winter Saturday. It snowed most of the way there and we considered turning around and going back to Fulda. We stopped at a Guesthouse for a beer to decide our course of action. After a couple mugs of some local bier,we decided to continue to the monastery. After what seemed like a long time, we arrived at the monastery, parked the car and were greeted by a monk who offered a gracious welcome. In our not very good German we asked for a tour of the monastery brewery. After a quick tour of the monastery, it was off to the brewery. Wow, I still remember that first drink but for some reason not the last. I'm glad I wasn't driving. To this day I still consider it the best true beer I ever drank. I still have the mug I drank from. What a wonderfully beautiful day trip that it turned out to be. Would love to return...

This place is outstanding the beer was excellent. The food was good, though the knödel was assembly line and not home made. The pretzels were really good and the red cabbage was my favorite thing I ate here. Today I had the best beer I've had this entire vacation. Ok, review as follows: Beer more than 5 stars, food 3 stars, staff 5 stars, walk after eating and drinking was amazing more than 5 stars. I recommend this place for a beer and a good meal. Please don't misunderstand my 3 stars for the food it was good it just doesn't measure up to that excellent beer. Oh, I had a beer and a traditional German meal for under 15 Euro. See for yourself totally worth...

Unfortunately we rated lower because we attended on a low fog day. It was so thick you could not see more than 200 meters. The Kloster offered 3 beers, a Pilsner, the typical dark and a Hefeweizen. We each had a pretzel and enjoyed the beer and visit. Because there wasn’t anything else to do because of the weather, we didn’t stay long. This is a place that is different from any other brewery. It has good beer and the food is a good sampling of German food. There were maybe 15 people there when we visited, but you could tell it could serve hundreds. Maybe a visit in the summer...

Nice place , if someone likes churches, good german food and beer. The path to the Golgotha group leads over a stone staircase . It's one of the oldest of its kind in Germany , built in 1710. ( counting the stairs is really good fun not only for kids :-D ) . The panoramic view from the top of the hill is also beautiful.
