Wonderful castle, King Ludwig II’s idea to have a copy of Versailles Palace in honour of King Louis XIV of France.

It is a monument to absolute monarchy and had no practical use.

The interiors are spectacular and can be visited with guides only (no pictures allowed). Highly recommended. I loved the porcelain collection and the magnificent textiles.

Gardens are beautiful too, with artsy fountains, and if you walk until the end you can enjoy the lake shore and have a lovely view.

It takes about 20 minutes walking to reach the castle from the pier. It’s a scenic, easy road that passes by the monastery nearby. You can also have a lift from...

Beautiful castle where you can learn a lot about Ludwig II. Professional guides with a lot of experience and unique stories. I can‘t post pictures from the castle because you can‘t take pictures there but here is a reason to visit it yourself. :) Very affordable to visit everything (11€) and if you can‘t do it in one day, you can come again in the next six months with the same ticket. Inspiring place.
