Adler und Wildpark Kasselburg,
Last Wednesday, together with my family we went to the park. And it is wonderful! There is not a whole lot to do but it looks great.
Most of the birds (of pray) have their shelter within the castle battlements. There is much training with the animals, so they can get their wings spread and fresh air regularly.
Within the battlements, the inner castle can be entered and the watchtower bested, all be it through climbing the stairs. Once bested, your trophy will be a phenomenal view on the surroundings.
Once, with both feet on the ground again there is plenty of space to make a serious hike within the castle grounds. There are to very big shelters, each for a group of polar wolves and one for a group black wolves. Especially the Black Wolves, seem as curious about us as we are about them. Very cool!
Finally we checked the bird show, wich was one of the better once I've seen sof far.
Of course there is also a kidsplayground and various farm animals.
Be sure to check it out for Yourselves.
Please note, it is not a trip a whole days worth. And prices, although not expansive, are a tat high for...
Read moreWe had a lovely day at this park. Watched a falcon and eagle show where they also gave a lot of information. They also had 2 huge vultures flying over while people were lying in a grass patch. It was really amazing and very informative. After the bird show they fed a pack of timberwolves and later on polar wolves where they also gave a lot of information. The walk back up is a bit tricky if you have leg problems. Otherwise definately worth coming here. We also walked around in the Kasselburg Ruines and afterwards while the kids played in a playground we had ate/drank something. There is a restaurant and a public toilet. Also a small store. All in all we had a...
Read moreNot that many different types of animals but I still recommend this place, plus it isn't overpriced like some zoo's are.
The bird show was spectacular, the staff had plenty of information about their birds and it was fun to see how one of the owls didn't feel motivated enough to fly down from the castle wall. The wolf enclosures are enormous compared to what most zoo's have!
The only down-side is that if you want a souvenir, you'll have to exit the park and go back to the cashier at the entrance where they have all kinds of plushies & more. So be sure to do this before you go into the park or when you're...
