Schoenburg Castle — Attraction in Hunsrück-Mittelrhein

We and members of our family have visited this amazing property many times over the last 20 years. We decided to visit with friends on the front-end of a 2 plus week vacation to Europe. It is often said, that things are never as good as you remember them. This castle is the exception. It was every bit as terrific as we remembered it. Our greeting was amazing. Beautiful location. Castle itself is gorgeous. However, the older lady with medium length brown hair Has to be the most unfriendly woman I’ve ever met. Just asking her questions seemed to really be bothering her. Knowing that we wanted to see the river and the town, she didn’t bother to tell us that everything was closed. Dinner in the restaurant was fantastic and the service was amazing. However, the bistro was another entity all together as was breakfast. Not very good at all. I guess the chef takes that day off. Not sure why it was so bad. My family stayed three nights at the castle and hated to leave. Our rooms were incredible and very comfortable. The hotel is spotless and full of fun nooks and crannies to explore and enjoy. The period furnishings added to the mystique of staying in a castle dating back hundreds of years. Our meals were fantastic and I highly recommend staying for dinner to enjoy the four course dinner. Staff was excellent! We would love to visit again. The castle is located centrally to wonderful hiking spots and we enjoyed a great meal in Oberwesel after a memorable hike into town.
