Awesome 900 yr old castle fortress ruins atop a volcanic peak that is accessible and is chock full of informational signs in multiple languages (is an example for others, in fact). Ample parking. Path someone rocky on top. Spectacular views. You can tell that this is the pride-n-joy of the nearby little town at its base....

This very well maintained site of castle ruins is well preserved now and offers a lot. Aside from stunning 360 degree views of the area there is lots of information about the castle history, area history, and nature/geology. Beware though, the hike from parking is fairly steep and a short ways so not for the...

Visited Waldeck Castle today and what a marvelous structure that has stood the test of time. My favorite aspect of the visit were the Medieval arches of the structure as you can see from the pictures posted. Only a 20 minute walk from my hotel, highly recommend if your visiting around Waldeck or Kenmath. Also available were several information boards in German, Spanish, and English to enable all to understand the history of the Castle.

Great way to spend a couple hours walking and exploring history. Easy to find a little elevated but a fairly easy walk. Bring water and snacks though. There is a portajohn/water closet at the top - kind of behind and inside the building next to the gazebo. Beautiful views from the top!
