Upon arriving at Leuchtturm Kiel-Holtenau, I was immediately struck by its imposing stature. The lighthouse stands tall, proudly overlooking the Kiel Canal, acting as a beacon of guidance for ships navigating through these treacherous waters. Its distinctive red and white exterior, complemented by a well-maintained surrounding area, creates a picturesque sight that evokes a sense of awe. Have a walk there and enjoy 😍

The corner stone of this tower was laid by Kaiser Wilhelm 1 in 1887. Not much to see as it is closed for the public. Still worthwhile visiting as it is over a century old and had in the older days a vital function. Nearby are plenty of restaurants, cafees where you can enjoy a huge variety of differents breakfasts, dinner or super. The height of this tower is twenty metres.

A beautiful place to visit. The light house is not open to the public but there is information about the history of the lighthouse. There is also a restaurant and good vantage spots to look out onto the Kiel harbour. The sea bath is close and there are a few food stalls and souvenir shops.

Aufgrund eines Leuchtturmmemories dass wir besitzen, haben wir den Ehrgeiz alle Leuchttürme aus diesem Memory mal zu besuchen und selber zu sehen. Daher stand dieser Leuchtturm auch auf unserer Liste. 😊 Ein Parkplatz gibt es am Leuchtturm, wir haben diesen aber erst entdeckt, als wir schon am Leuchtturm waren und weiter weg geparkt hatten. Ist nicht so gut ausgeschildert der Parkplatz. Reingehen konnte man in den Leuchtturm nicht nur drumherum gehen. Es wäre aber interessant gewesen auch das Innere zu sehen, weil dort, was man durch das Fenster sehen konnte, einige Plaketten an den Wänden und auf dem Boden ein großes Mosaik. So konnte man es nur durch ein kleines Fenster erahnen. Ansonsten vom äußeren ein hübscher Leuchtturm. Es gibt in der Nähe am Wasser einige Cafes, Restaurants und Läden. Schöne Landschaft drumherum, sehr schön zum Spazieren gehen.

This is a beautiful tower next to the baltic sea with a beautiful view. You can sit on the benches and bask in the sun while watching people fish or take a walk along the sea. You also able to watch people sail or cruises.

A nice bike ride from Kiel center, going over the Holtenau bridge to then reach the lighthouse. I was sad to find the door closed, but the lighthouse is quite unique and worth visiting, even if only from the outside!
