This castle is worth a visit if you enjoy great views, and are interested in history and the Nibelungenlied.

We parked our car, and then walked down the stairs to the castle. Right next to it is a restaurant, where my mother enjoyed a cool drink while we explored the castle itself.

The castle dates back to the 12th century, and one of its oldest parts is the 31 metre keep. What visitors will see first, though, is the bridge leading inside. Tickets can be bought in the room to the right, where you can also purchase some books and merchandise.

After a short walk through the courtyard, you head left to the first room, filled with information about the castle and those who built it. Then you can advance further, exploring all the rooms to your heart’s content. Under no-Corona-circumstances visits are only allowed with a guided tour, so I have no idea how a normal tour looks like. We were able to freely move around, though, and explore...

My family looked forward to the guided tour which is the only way to see the castle. We walked into the office to purchase tickets and the guide spoke broken English with us pretty well. No problem. We only speak English unfortunately. The guide then proceeds to take our money for the tour. AFTER I pay and sign he then tells us the tour is only conducted in German. AFTER HE TAKES OUR MONEY!!!! Don't waste your time if you don't speak German as they will first take your money and then inform you they only conduct this tour in German. WE...

Beautiful castle in the enchanting area of the Altmühltal. The view from here is truly extraordinary. From this beautiful castle, you can look down into the Altmühltal Valley and see fantastic views of the Altmühl River and the town of Prunn. There is so much history to be discovered here in this castle, which is where the original Prunn Codex was written, but also in the entire Altmühltal Valley. It is definitely...

Castle in great state high above the Altmühl valley. Therefore nice scenic pictures possible. Rich history of the building is well explained (signs, currently no tours due to CoViD) in German and English. Court can/might be visited without paying the entrance fee. Building and exhibition are worth to pay though. If you're into castles and history I highly recommend visiting this one.
