Reifenberg Castle — Attraction in Schmitten im Taunus

Ich habe den Turm von Rapunzel gefunden: Er hat wirklich keinen Eingang. Laut den dort Anwesenden, die in der Hütte nebenan feierten, kommt da nur der Burgverein mit Hilfe einer Leiter rein. Daneben ist ein ehemaliger Wohnturm, bei dem das Innere und eine Wand fehlen. Der kann Samstags, Sonntags und Feiertags bestiegen werden, steht jedenfalls dran. Die Aussicht muss dort oben herrlich sein - und anstrengend. Danach kann man in das einzige Kaffee, wo man guten hausgemachten Kuchen essen kann.

I have found the tower of Rapunzel: It really has no entrance. According to the people there who were celebrating in the hut next door, only the castle society can get in there with the help of a ladder. Next to it is a former residential tower, where the interior and a wall are missing. It can be climbed on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, at least that is what it says. The view up there must be magnificent - and exhausting. Afterwards you can go to the only coffee shop where you can eat good...

Very nice ruins. Mostly the main wall and two impressive towers, one is accessible. Information signs in German only. You can go there also woth a wheelchair but I recommend to habe help with you. The tower has no elevator. You will hava a good view! Few parking...

Sono i resti di un antico castello ( probabilmente risale al XII secolo...). Rimangono parti delle mura, il mastio di forma rotonda ed un'altra torre rettangolare, in un piacevole parco, in posizione elevata sulla cittadina. Ha una storia complicatissima, fatta di assedi, distruzioni e combattimenti ( molto spesso si trattava di faide famigliari, spesso con i vicini parenti, i Baroni di Hattenstein, che avevano il loro castello a pochi km di distanza). Oggi viene gestito da una Associazione culturale, che organizza eventi, visite guidate e cura la conservazione del monumento. Si visita liberamente ( si può salire sulla cima della torre...
