Such a pleasant surprise to visit since I didn't know we'd be allowed to go inside or that it would be so beautiful... and it was free!
The castle has different levels where you can walk around and take photos of the castle as well as high views of the city, and the castle looks great and has a nice design on the outside as well as interesting delights inside.
We were told we could enter any area where we could open a door, and there werebaitring areas such as a large entertaining room. There was an old Steinway piano in good, functioning condition, and a small museum room displaying art from local young artists.
In the highest room, there was a cross above what looked like a representation of a torture device, and there was a papier-mâché dragon head & dragon tail.
There were plenty of wide parking spaces (thankfully, not many people around Europe know about this castle yet, so it doesn't get crowded), the bathrooms were large and very clean, and there is also a restaurant (which we didn't get to try since we weren't hungry yet). Read moreI would rate it a 3.5*. If you have a car, driving there is easy. There is a small car park beside the castle. However, it is advisable to park away then walk if visiting during early part of the day. Not sure about public transport from Aachen. The castle interior is under renovation but the exterior still offers visitors a walk around and a good view. Not a huge castle. There is an outdoor cafe and a restaurant. Was nice to see it but unless you really want to see it up close I wouldn't bother. The Altstadt was nice and close but I'd say go to the Altstadt and see the castle from there.
