The only reason this gets four stars is because the city hasn’t cleaned up any of the graffiti.
If you’re from a country that was involved in World War II, this is a must-see. The fact the entire hill is build upon rubble from over 50 air raids performed on Stuttgart is humbling.
To describe the atmosphere in a single word, nothing does it more justice than “heavy”. With a gloomy sky, misty rain, and no one around, the atmosphere was a lot to take in.
The sheer history held here is almost oppressive. Whether or not you possess an interest in history, it’s worth the trip to just take it all in and consider that those stones aren’t just debris—they used to be part of a city full of people who didn’t ask for what they got.
