I was very skeptical when my wife asked me if we can visit this place. I mean, I love pigs and pork, but a whole museum dedicated to it? What could you possibly learn?
The entry ticket for an adult is 6.90 Euros, which is pretty steep in my opinion. Kids 4 and below are free. The museum prides itself as the Guinness World Record holder for the "largest pig museum". I mean come on, how hard can that be? There aren't that many pig museums in this world. There are two floors of various collection of pig paintings, dolls, books, shows, knick knacks, and pretty much anything related to pigs. I was pleasantly surprised by the collection, and this was one of the few museums which actually had an English translation for the description for each of the rooms, which made it a lot more useful (no audio guides available).
I think this is a very cute museum, and will cater to a few that appreciate the more obscure things in life. Definitely not a mainstream museum like the Mercedes Benz or Porsche museums (which by itself is already a very specific kind of museum). Come only if you have exhausted the other big museums.
There's also a restaurant which serves... yup you guessed, it, pork. It looked quite good, though I didn't get...

Ooink!

Read moreInteresting and unexpected. I really liked the miniatures in the museum and the fact that it is really genuine, but could have been a bit "refreshed" from its old appearance, taking into consideration the entrance ticket that is not really cheap. Would have liked to buy a small souvenir but the lady that was taking care of the museum shop didn't even ask me if I wanted something else, just told me that "this is an old museum and paying is possible just by cash" ... Well a bit of upgrading would not be bad, I think! Otherwise, the collection of exponates was...
