Came here with my three kids nearly ages 6, 4, and 2. I wore the toddler while the older two walked. We parked at the parkplatz off of Kurhausstrasse, which it turns out is at the highest level of the waterfall. As such, we basically had to hike DOWN multiple levels of the waterfall (many of which had beautiful bridges and small pools of water to play in, one of which was quite scenic, but busy) and then back up. I wish we had parked at the Parkplatz off of L126 near the kiosk, which it seemed like more people had done and would have allowed us to get the ascent over with in the beginning and ultimately see more (knowing my kids can go back down when tired after the visit then back up). Not to mention there was poor signage directing you to the waterfall, and many people had to ask for directions (myself on the way there and people asking me on our way back to the car), nor were there bathrooms or food kiosks like there is at the bottom. This path was certainly NOT stroller friendly. All that being said, the waterfall was still an amazing experience. I've never been to a waterfall of this magnitude that you can hike to. It was truly beautiful and relaxing, and my kids loved it. I was thankful for the snacks and travel potty we brought with us, as both were utilized well. We spent about 1.5-2 hours here total before going to see a quick glimpse of Titisee Lake on our way back to Triberg. I would recommend leaving yourself more time here, as it is well worth it, especially if you have another adult with you to help with any young kids you may have. Most of the path was easily traversed and safe, but there were a few bridges and staircases that made me nervous with the 4 year old. Wear good, waterproof shoes that do...
Read moreHellooo guys, As part of an unforgettable Black Forest vacation, we also visited the Todtnauer waterfalls. There is free parking. However, the terrain is very steep and slippery due to the humidity. You should be sure-footed. Otherwise, the paths around the waterfall are not well signposted. However, as the waterfall is always noticeable with a loud roar and it can be seen well with its almost 100 meters in height, the orientation is still easy. There are several paths that lead around the waterfall. But you can abbreviate at some places on bridges. A great natural spectacle that you should not miss. On regenerative days you have the waterfall almost for you alone. Otherwise, it can be quite busy. We climbed from the top and did not have to pay admission. On your way there are...
Read moreThe waterfall itself is beautiful and obviously 5 stars but… I wish we had read the reviews before going, because the tickets are very misleading! You do not need ANY TICKET to simply enter the hiking path through the arch near the bridge! We bought tickets for the waterfall alone for nothing, and then STILL had to pay to use the bathroom near the bridge, even though the ticket for the bridge + waterfall includes use of the bathroom. It was just a few euros, but it’s the principle of the matter. The maps of the trails are also very poor - I’ve never seen a hiking map with absolutely no indication of where you are when you’re looking at it. I hope a good portion of this money goes to the town rather than just the business...
