Disappointing Experience at the Café – Rude Behavior Not Acceptable!!

We visited Sommerrodelbahn Gutach this morning [9th July 2025 / 11.20AM] after driving all the way from Stuttgart to enjoy the much-hyped ride—and to be fair, the ride itself did not disappoint. It was thrilling, well-maintained, and my 8-year-old absolutely loved the experience, especially since it was her first time. Full marks (5*) for the ride and safety standards.

However, the entire experience was soured by the unacceptable behavior we encountered at the café on-site.

Our daughter changed her mind about an ice cream flavor—completely understandable for a child—when she realized that what was handed to her didn’t match the picture on the menu (what looked like mango turned out to be passionfruit). What followed was utterly shocking, the woman running the café snatched the ice cream out of our hands and started yelling aggressively in German, accusing us of --spoiling-- the item—despite the fact that it was unopened and in its original wrapper.

This level of rudeness is inexcusable—especially in a family attraction that caters to children. Thankfully, the two interns handling the cash counter were polite and respectful, which we appreciate.

But this café is a red flag!! Never faced such hostility in all our travels across Germany. A child changing her mind should not result in public humiliation. This is not how you treat customers, especially not children.

⚠️ Parents beware: Check twice before buying from this café and be prepared to deal with unnecessarily hostile staff. There is absolutely no place for such behavior in a customer-facing business—let alone one serving kids.

May kindness find its way to this...

EXTREMELY UNSAFE. As a “policy” they let children over 8 y/o ride by themselves. Me and my 5 y/o have been STRONGLY hit by the back by 2 children who were riding by themselves and CLEARLY did not respect the 25 metres compulsory space. As a result, my prescription glasses have jumped away, my kid has been hurt (thanks God she didn’t jump away), and I have been left with a strong headache and vertigo. The assistance received by the personnel was unapologetic and zero proactive. On top of it, after the accident, these children were allowed to ride by themselves again multiple times, (“because the policy allowed them”), despite not having complied with the 25 meters separation policy and having caused an accident just prior (mind you, all this while their parents were having coffee). Totally unacceptable policy, zero prevention, and zero responsibiliy from the parents who let the children ride again alone, despite the accident. We do not recommend AT ALL this place and strongly think their policy should be URGENTLY reviewed....

Beautiful place, loads of things to do with family. It has a big trampoline for kids, few other attractions such as model jcb excavatora for kids which is equally fun, toy cars. Both of these attractions are pretty cheap(1€ for a lot of time). Main attraction is the rollercoaster ride which you can ride alone or with another person. Blackforest View from the top is amazing. For adrenaline rush people can ride quite fast or not since you have control with you, you can drive slow. It takes around 10-15mins for the whole ride. Since the tickets are just 4€ for adults and 3 for kids most of the time you end up taking ride multiple times. The waiting line is also not that much, mostly 10-15mins. And really good food court with loads of things to choose from. Have direct train connection from offenburg. Definetely a must to do if you want to spend quality time with...
