We made a quick stop at the Erste Weltgrößte Kuckucksuhr (First World’s Largest Cuckoo Clock) near Triberg during our Black Forest road trip, and it was a quirky little detour worth checking out. We arrived by car and found convenient parking nearby, making it an easy visit. The clock is essentially a traditional Black Forest house scaled up to 50 times the size of a regular cuckoo clock, complete with a working mechanism inside. We took a short tour inside and were fascinated by the craftsmanship and the sheer size of the wooden gears and pendulum. However, when the cuckoo bird appeared on the hour, the sound was surprisingly faint—we expected a louder call given the clock’s massive size. The attraction is open daily, with hours varying by season, so it’s best to check ahead before planning your visit. We found that visiting in the morning allowed us to avoid crowds and enjoy the surroundings peacefully. While the experience is brief, it’s a unique piece of engineering and a fun photo opportunity. If you’re in the area, it’s a charming stop that adds a bit of whimsy to your Black Forest...
Read moreThis is the World's first largest cuckoo clock. We visited this place accidentally, because just assumed there was only one Largest Cuckoo clock in Schwarzwald (Black forest). Happily caught the bus 550, got down at Untertal bus stop and walked by following the sign board and there was a shock. This Cuckoo clock visiting time was from 2PM only, we went on Friday. A representative man inside the Cuckoo clock inside it was very rude, as he already scolded a German family when tried to visit by 1PM. I have approached stating the Google maps and its time, he rudely said, I need to have lunch by 1PM and it will open by 2PM only. There, he has kept a visiting time marked in Board, and shocking I observed is, one day it will be closed. Forgot to capture it, so it will be useful for others, sorry I missed it. It resembled a small house, inside it was mechanical wheels to demonstrate how the clock is functioning and small clocks for sale by him. Rear side of house was Cuckoo clock, but unluckily we could not see and travelled to "Eble Uhren-Park GmbH", which is the second world largest...
Read moreI have been there a couple of times, but never seen it from inside untill recently. There is an entry fee of 2 Euros to see it from inside, where you have the clock work on the first floor and an animatronic "Clock seller" who will tell the story and history of the clock makers and the clock (in different languages). The sound of the Cuckoo was very low and the noise of the main road does not helped at all. They should do something about the Cuckoo's sound. It kind of puts a damper on the whole experience. It is outside the main city, so the area looks like less impressive. They do have a big shop adjacent to the building for souvenirs. To be honest, I thought it would be much more...
