RAF Museum, Laarbruch — Attraction in Weeze

Ein wunderschönes Museum, welches die Geschichte des ehemaligen Militärflugplatzes der Royal Air Force in Laarbruch aufzeigt. Es ist mit sehr viel Liebe zum Detail und Leidenschaft eingerichtet. In der ehemaligen Kirche St. Peter's befindet sich eine große Auswahl sehr interessanter Exponate, darunter Flugzeugcockpits, Flugabwehrraketen, Triebwerke, Schleudersitze, Dioramen, Uniformen und vieles andere mehr sowie ein neues und einzigartiges Exponat, welches ausschließlich das Royal Air Force Museum Laarbruch beherbergt.

Als Grossexponate kann man eine English Electric Canberra PR.7 im Freien und eine Hawker Hunter T.7 im ehemaligen Kino bewundern. Die Hawker Hunter erscheint im neuen Glanz und ist mit ihrer einzigartigen Eleganz ein absoluter Blickfang.

All das von mir Erwähnte ist mit Worten nicht zu beschreiben von daher bitte selbst anschauen!

An dieser Stelle möchte ich mich bei Herrn Dr. Ahlbrecht für seine detaillierten Erläuterungen und bei Mr Rod Hawkins bedanken. Mr Rod Hawkins als ehemaliger Pilot der Royal Air Force brachte mir die gefährlichen und an die Leistungsgrenze eines Menschen gehenden militärischen Einsätze sehr nahe! Thank you very much!

A beautiful museum, which shows the history of the former military airfield of the Royal Air Force Laarbruch. It is set up with lots of ardour and passion for details.

In the former church of St. Peter's there is a large selection of very interesting exhibits, including aircraft cockpits, anti-aircraft missiles, engines, ejection seats, dioramas, uniforms and much more, as well as a new unique and exclusive exhibit which is only in the Royal Air Force Museum Laarbruch to be seen.

Large exhibits include an English Electric Canberra PR.7 outdoors and a Hawker Hunter T.7 in the former cinema. The Hawker Hunter now appears in new splendour and with its unique elegance is an absolute eye-catcher.

All the things I mentioned cannot be described with words, so please have a look for yourself!

Visited Weeze Airport on Wednesday just to see what had happened over the years. The hanger I worked in is now the main terminal building. We saw the museum on the way out and decided to visit, well worth €3 to see the collection of items and the history of the base.
