Breathtaking views of the village bay from above—absolutely worth a visit.
The only downside is the predictable local hustler demanding an entry fee supposedly for the community and the fort’s preservation... while you know it probably goes to sustain the idle lifestyle of the local chief and his family.
The fort is completely overgrown with vegetation, which admittedly looks fantastic through a tourist’s lens. But it’s clear no real maintenance has happened (despite what the fee collectors claim) since the Dutch left. Although the structure still seems solid, I wouldn’t be surprised if part of it collapsed under someone’s weight one...

On the immediate left is the Butre river which flows into the sea. I had no guide take me up the fort. Old man was accommodating and friendly. Pay 10gh-20gh cedis depending on nationality. Resorts Hideout (little/medium budget), Green Zion Garden(small budget) and Fanta's Folly (most affluent) are the resorts you can find on the beach. Lovely place to visit...
