The museum and railway car tearoom are highlights of Glenfinnan. I've been dropping in occasionally for years, and the recent visit showed nothing much had changed in the last 10 years. Except Potter-mania has hit, but never mind. The museum shows photos and posters on the wall and several artefacts of the old days on the railway. The tearoom is small and the menu is understandably short, but the food was good. Both museum and tea room have limited capacity. If the parking is full, the facilities probably will be, too. On our recent visit we had good weather, which meant we could sit outside where there was plenty of room, and entertaining fledgeling robins wanting to share our food.

The love and passion for keeping the history of the Glenfinnan Station made possible this museum. It's small but managed to bring back to life, and in perfect conditions, the old station. The experience is like travelling back in time. The staff is friendly and always willing to explain further about the history and use of the tools and gadgets on display. The ticket price is a donation from £1.- and includes the entrance to the museum and a replica of an original train ticket from an old ticket machine. There is also a souvenirs' shop. If you are visiting the viaduct just drive a bit further or walk 15' more, it'll paid off.

Okay, I admit it, we only called in to this museum because we had bought ice-creams in the cafe (in a railway carriage) and got free entry and so thought we would give it a try. It is a charming gem of a museum that we found very interesting and were so glad we had taken the time to look and we learnt about local railways. The staff were all friendly and helpful too. We were passing on the lovely Glenfinnan viaduct walk from the monument, which is well worth doing for the views.

This actually is not a museum.. rather a certain part of the station with few antique accessories..so be prepared to be disappointed.. but the best and the awesome part is a meal in the train restaurant.. it is awesome experience u will love it very nice ambiance nice big portions.. I like the whole meal.. and the walk down to the forest ..was really nice.. the view from view point is amazing.. u would love each part of Scotland.. if you have a love for nature..

Nice little museum. Entry by donation. Very friendly staff. Interesting photographs, info panels and artefacts. Possible to visit signal box. Don't miss the cafe which is an old dining car with original seats and bathroom furniture. Also lovely food, beautifully presented, great cakes. Everything quite cramped - people were thinner when these places were designed years ago - so seats, corridors and doorways really narrow. Nice view. Busy

Interesting little museum set inside the station building. £1 each to enter. It covers the history of the Highland Railway line and the Glenfinnan Viaduct. It would probably be a great place to see the Jacobite Steam Train pass through. Check the timetable for times. There is a café behind the station for drinks and snacks. And a snow plough converted into an ice cream shop! You can't miss it, it's painted black and yellow! 😎 👍
