Porto Atheras is considered one of the most peaceful and family-friendly beaches on the island. It's the small quay and coast of the beautiful nearby village of Atheras.
The beach is attractive to swimmers due to its morphology, located on a protected bay, which makes it relatively easy and safe to swim in. The clean and shallow waters are very calm and a little warmer than the other ones on the island, making it ideal for families to visit. It is a sandy beach encompassed by luscious nature. The juxtaposition of the deep green surrounding environment with the clear azure waters is breathtaking.
It is not organized and does not have any natural shade, so visitors may need to bring an umbrella with them. However, few taverns are available on the coast, offering food and drinks. It is easily accessible by car from the village of Atheras.
Hiking lovers will be happy to find out that they can explore the nearby area since there are many paths surrounding the area. They can also take the trail to end up at Ammidi, a very small and secluded hidden gem of the island. While there, don't forget to visit the nearby Saint Spyridon church with its distinctive blue...

Just note that there are no sunbeds or umbrellas provided, so bring your own if you need shade or comfort.
There’s a great little beach restaurant with a nice selection of fresh fish, and they do takeaway freddo cappuccinos too, which was a treat. You can even rent a boat here if you’re up for a bit of adventure.
What I loved most is that it’s not overly commercial—just a calm, beautiful place to relax for the day. Highly recommended if you’re looking for peace and...

There are no sunbeds or showers, but plenty of space on the sand and not too many rocks.
A good stop off for a swim and relax.
Parking almost on the beach.
We visited on a Sunday in October and unfortunately could not get served for lunch at the Taverna as they were full. It was clearly very popular locally.
We could use their...
