Set inland, between sun-drenched vineyards and the rugged beauty of Crete’s mountains, this estate offers a change of pace from the island’s beaches. Visits to the vines set off every half-hour, giving guests a glimpse into the landscape and rhythm of the vineyard before returning to taste the results.
Several tasting options are available, each defined by the number of wines poured. The wines themselves are pleasant and easy to enjoy, if not especially memorable. A short food menu accompanies the tastings, including a daily special, and while I sampled little beyond it, one dish stood out: a Dakos that was quite simply the best I’ve had in Crete – refined and modern in presentation yet faithful to tradition in flavour.
