The Stoa wasn't too far from where were staying, so was very easy to get to from Kos town, only a short drive. Plenty of space to park and only a short walk down a tree lined path to a lovely little cafe and ticket booth. For places of such historic interest I have no problem paying, as its for the upkeep of the site.
I was amazed at how big the site actually was and how well preserved it was. Also climbing up to the top you get a wonderful view out to sea.
As for the cafe, have to say the iced coffee was delish, and everyone loved the fresh orange juice - very friendly staff, great value cafe and a welcome break from the sun :)

It is relatively open and sunny, but there are also a few shady places to rest.
You're done looking at the ancient ruins relatively quickly. I would say you should allow an hour, including breaks in the shade.
It is a well-kept place. Children get in for free. Adults cost €15 - I think that's quite expensive for the fact that there's no guided tour or anything like that.
