Plathiena — Attraction in Municipality of Milos

I don't know why this beach doesn't get more mentions. Beautiful beach with easy access and lots of parking. There are sunbeds and a restaurant, but the sunbeds need to be booked the day before. They won't take bookings on the day. There may be a couple unreserved if you get there early enough but unlikely in high season. In any case, there are some trees for shade on the side of the beach. Sunbeds are 25€ per pair with umbrella which is cheap for Milos !

It's a bay and mostly sand. You can walk out a long way, so good for children.

The restaurant has plenty of space, and the food is good and reasonably priced. They even have a toilet and several facilities for the disabled.

Plathiena is such a great beach spot. Not the prettiest but still a nice beach. More like a normal beach. As with most places in Milos, I arrive around 9:00-9:30am and secured a great beach spot. After 11:00 people start arriving almost at the same time. The water is crystal clear and gorgeous. There’s also a beach cafe close by to get coffee and water. They may serve food-not sure. Definitely worth a visit for a swim before the masses head down around midday. The sun beds are 25€ each so 50€ for two with a table per day. A little expensive regarding the location. Best beach day on Milos! IMHO, this beach does not get the credit it deserves. Our map was marked with “best beaches” we had noted from a variety of sources - this beach was not even on the list. But we happened to notice it while enjoying the view from the hilltop town of Plaka located close by. We drove down to the beach - lots of parking (some creative), easily accessible bathroom with shower (well water), cafe with drinks and snacks - all located directly across from the beach. Several changing stations available. The water is as good as it gets!! CLEAR. Emerald green gives way to cobalt blue. Great snorkeling along the adjacent cliffs. You can wade out to mid-chest deep for about 50 yards out. I look forward to...
