This winery was an EXCELLENT choice! Our family visited during the winter season and had a LOVELY tour with Mandi. I don’t think I’ve ever been more informed about the wine process in my life! We got to hear about the individual machines, the different wine processes, and the materials used (cork vs silicon and oak barrels and more!) so we really understood what we were drinking. We did the tour and the wine tasting with four, HIGHLY RECOMMEND, and we got to drink the Monolithos White and Rose, Ktima Red, and 3/.13. Mandi gave beautiful descriptions of each wine, the notes we should smell/taste, and taught us about the tears (in the US we call them legs!) in the wine glass and how it indicates age! We also got to enjoy a DELICIOUS plate of cheeses, fruits, and bread to go with our tasting. We had a wonderful conversation and evening, and we bought several bottles after. Since we went in the winter, we weee the only group there, but it honestly made things more intimate/fun. 10/10 would come back, and would love to see it in the summer when they’re pressing...
Read moreWe visited the winery for a tasting, and while the wine was interesting and the staff were friendly and informative, our experience took a turn for the worse after we made a purchase.
In the shop, we saw a box with a few items on top (for serving charcuterie) and three bottles of wine displayed on the bottom. It seemed like a perfect gift, especially for the price of €50, so we bought it. However, when we got home and opened the box, we realized that there were no bottles of wine inside.
When we called the winery, we were told that this was "normal," and the person on the phone even compared it to buying a sofa, as also in that occation the cushions are not included. Frankly, that comparison doesn't make sense. If a product is displayed in a shop, you expect to receive what you see, unless it's clearly marked otherwise. There was no indication whatsoever that the wine wasn't included, so how were we supposed to know?
To top it off, why would anyone pay €50 for an empty box with just a few charcuterie items? It feels like poor communication and poor...
Read moreI went to this winery expecting the best given the positive reviews, however after my one hour experience here, I would give Domaine Bairaktaris 0 stars if I could. The service is deplorable and despite liking the wine I refused to purchase a bottle because I won’t support such a rude establishment. My wife and I attended the wine tasting session, and our table was consistently neglected—we were not given our first wine until after the nearby table was already served their second. The server ignored us when we were obviously waiting for our second flight for tasting, and we ended up having to flag down the assistant server just to get wine on the table. The other tables got constant attention from the servers—when I spoke with the server amiably she walked away mid-sentence. As the only Chinese people in the establishment, I believe that my race may have been involved. I’m from the Bay Area and frequent Napa wineries and I have NEVER had a server who looked down on me...
