Mili Gorge Trailhead (south) — Attraction in Municipality of Rethymnon

Great escape to the nature from crowded Rethymno. I went up the gorge from Xiro Chorio parking lot and made cca 10 km long circle hike via Chromonastiri village and further I took smaller route via Agios Eutychos church back to the parking lot, it took 2-3 hours and it was amazingly beautiful all the way. The gorge ecosystem is like a jungle where you can justvtry to imagine how did it look like when people where actually living in this wild area. Take hiking shoes, enough...

This is a great place to start the walk along the stunning Mili gorge. There's plenty of parking along the roadside and a trailhead board. The path decends along the gorge, going past many of the old buildings. There is a little loop you can do at the begi, and then after that, it's a straight route there and back. We took around 3 hours to the whole thing and covered about 4.4 miles. This includes a stop to get some lunch at the cafe...

Very nice walk (6km). On the route you pass all kinds of beautiful places worth seeing. You will see some uninhabited houses and a stream with small waterfalls. If desired, you can relax and have a drink on the terrace, halfway or at the end...
